We’re all familiar with the princesses from children’s stories. They’re always beautiful, cheerful and kind-hearted. And, of course… they can all sing. But do we know anything about these princesses’ lives? Do we know what their own fairy tales meant to them? What became of them?
The other side of ‘and they lived happily ever after’. Don’t give me that old story shows us how four princesses rebel and demand to tell the other side of the story. The part that isn’t told because, after all, it isn’t as lovely as they say…
We’re fed up with being princesses, with having to be perfect, with ‘happily ever after’!

“Don’t Give Me That” is a cheeky and provocative musical comedy that presents a realistic take on four princesses from classic fairy tales (Snow White, Cinderella, Belle and Aurora) who, after their ‘happily ever after’, get together to complain, laugh and cry about the pain, traumas and insecurities that were never spoken of. The play, written and directed by Olivia Lara, seeks to liberate these women from their idealised roles to reveal their more human and authentic sides, interacting with the audience and breaking the fourth wall.
