Argument

Prince Tamino, pursued by a giant serpent, flees into the forest, unwittingly entering the realm of the Queen of the Night. There, he strikes a deal with the queen to win her daughter's hand in marriage in exchange for freeing her from Sarastro's captivity. Tamino, accompanied by the bird-catcher Papageno, sets out to rescue his beloved. However, upon arriving in Sarastro's kingdom, he realizes the truth and decides to stay with his beloved, far from the queen. To remain and become a member of the Temple of the Sages, he must pass a series of trials, which he successfully completes. Ultimately, the two lovers are united forever, while his wicked mother is finally defeated.

OPERA 2001 Presentation

OPERA 2001 began its journey more than three decades ago with Mozart's "The Magic Flute", a work that profoundly marked our artistic identity.

Today, with the same emotion, we will also close our chapter as an opera producer. With "The Magic Flute," we bring to a close an extraordinary cycle, built thanks to the efforts of hundreds of professionals who have allowed us to grow, create, and share opera with thousands of spectators in Spain, France, and Portugal.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to all the theaters, festivals, and programmers who have walked alongside us for so many years. On this tour, we would like to reconnect with as many of the theaters we have collaborated with as possible. We invite them all to purchase this final production, a revamped "Magic Flute," meticulously crafted and designed to be a crowning achievement in our career.

Our wish is that this work may continue to live on its stages and in the memory of the public.

Presentation of The Magic Flute by Alfredo Troisi,

costume and set designer.

The scene is filled with fantastic characters who, by the mere fact of crossing the magic threshold, travel through different eras, from archaic times with prehistoric monsters to the Middle Ages, Baroque art to the contemporary era of Mozart, and even to beings from an imaginary distant future.
