THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE FLUTE is a programme focusing on the 18th century, regarded as the golden age of the flute due to the large number of great composers who wrote famous works for this instrument. These include, amongst others: Vivaldi, Telemann, Bach, Handel, Haydn and Mozart.
The Casanovas Flute Orchestra, an ensemble founded by Juan Francisco Cayuelas Grao and José Francisco Sánchez Sánchez with the aim of showcasing the Maestro’s favourite instrument, will perform a wonderful repertoire that includes both pieces written specifically for solo flute with accompaniment adapted for this unique orchestra, as well as transcriptions of well-known works from the Baroque and Classical periods that are sure to delight the audience.
It is worth noting that, in terms of the number of members, the Casanovas Flute Orchestra is one of the largest flute orchestras in Spain; it features leading teachers and soloists on the flute, and is complemented by the bass clarinet, bassoon, cello, double bass, percussion and piano.
