The III Festival Grandes Compositores: Turandot is an opera event in Torrevieja, Spain, dedicated to Giacomo Puccini's opera, presenting a staging of Turandot to mark the centenary of its premiere, with performances scheduled for 19 April 2026 at the Municipal Theatre of Torrevieja. It is a tribute to Puccini, telling the story of the Chinese princess and Prince Calaf through their riddles and love.
A Chinese princess, Turandot, seeks revenge by setting conditions for intrepid suitors: if they fail to solve three riddles, they will die. A foreign prince succeeds; however, Turandot does not consent. Enamoured with her beauty, Kalaf proposes a riddle: if she gives her name before dawn, he will die. The intriguing drama, tinged with tragedy, has an unexpected ending.
