In the coastal town of Lloret de Mar, Marina and Jorge, who grew up together as siblings, are in love but keep their feelings to themselves. Jorge, now a newly qualified ship’s captain, sets off on a voyage.
While she is away, Pascual, a rough-and-ready shipwright, asks for Marina’s hand in marriage.
She agrees, but she wants Jorge—whom she considers her only family—to ask for her hand in marriage.
On his return, Jorge reluctantly agrees.
A letter from Marina’s father and Pascual’s jealousy complicate matters.
