The church building has an ancient history dating back to 1639. The building underwent modifications over time and acquired its current size and appearance between 1925 and 1927. To achieve this, the upper part of the small bell tower was demolished and a new one was built, with four bells, except for the clock, which was added in 1948 along with three bells to mark the time. A raised floor (choir) was also built, accessible through the bell tower and where the musicians sit during the masses with the orchestra.
The last reconstruction was carried out in 2009-2011.
On the 5th of February 2011 the grand opening ceremony of the temple took place, presided over by the Bishop of Orihuela.
