A student's electric scooter caught fire

Today (October 16, 2025), a student's scooter caught fire at a school in Torrevieja. The scooter was parked in a designated parking area on school grounds. The fire was so intense that several neighboring scooters also caught fire. Smoke filled the area around the fire.

The school responded quickly. The fire alarm sounded. Teachers quickly assessed the situation and did not interrupt instruction. The fire was contained, and the remaining scooters were removed from the parking area. Firefighters were called. They arrived quickly and professionally extinguished this "technological" fire. No one was injured.

Parents should monitor their children's scooters more closely and meticulously, and ensure they are serviced regularly. Do not allow children to: 1. modify the design of the scooters (some try to increase speed, which compromises safety); 2. operate the scooters at their maximum capacity; 3. Riding with headphones and without a RELIABLE helmet; 4. Violating traffic rules.

Around the world, including in countries like Spain, there has been a rising trend of fires due to faulty batteries in these devices. Therefore, it is important to follow safety rules, such as proper charging and storage, and to choose high-quality models that are certified to safety standards. (Photo from the internet)
