A 29-year-old British national has been found shot dead inside a residential property in the Campoamor area of Orihuela Costa. Law enforcement authorities are treating the incident as a homicide and have launched an investigation led by specialist units dealing with serious crime.
The man’s body was discovered inside a private residence. According to investigators, the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Information about the incident only became public several days later, as the investigation progressed.
Circumstances surrounding the discovery.Police were alerted by individuals close to the victim, who expressed concern about events at the property. Officers from the Guardia Civil and local police attended the scene. Forensic teams and homicide detectives were deployed. A post-mortem examination confirmed that the cause of death was multiple gunshot injuries.
Investigation under judicial secrecy. The case is being handled by the Alicante Judicial Police homicide unit. The investigation is currently under judicial secrecy, which restricts the amount of official information that can be released. No arrests have been reported so far.
Possible link to an earlier shooting.Investigators are examining whether this killing may be connected to another incident that occurred in Orihuela Costa on 11 December. In that case, a 32-year-old British man was shot multiple times while inside his car in an underground car park. The victim survived the attack and was taken in serious condition to the Hospital Universitario de Torrevieja.
According to information available to investigators, both incidents may be linked to disputes involving organised criminal groups operating in the Vega Baja region and along the Costa Blanca, including possible drug-related activity. Authorities stress, however, that this hypothesis has not been officially confirmed and remains under investigation.
Growing concern over violent crime. This fatal shooting adds to a series of serious violent incidents recorded in the region throughout 2025. In previous months, several shootings and stabbing attacks have been reported, some involving foreign nationals. These events have raised concern among residents and local authorities alike.
Police appeal for witnesses. The Guardia Civil has appealed to the public for any information that could assist the investigation. In particular, police are interested in reports of suspicious activity in the Campoamor and Orihuela Costa areas between 20 and 22 December. Investigators continue to assess a possible connection between the two armed incidents.alizando la posible conexión entre ambos ataques armados.
