Carols in the Square in Torrevieja: A Festive Concert for the International Community

On Friday, December 12, the Plaza de la Constitución in Torrevieja will host the 23rd International Christmas Concert "Carols in the Square"—a traditional holiday event that brings together residents of many different nationalities and has symbolized friendship and cultural integration for over two decades.

The concert, which begins at 5:30 PM, is organized by the Concejalía de Residentes Internacionales (CIRI) with the support of the Ayuntamiento de Torrevieja and has already become an integral part of the city's Christmas program, combining traditions and musical styles from around the world.

This year's event will be hosted by local singer Shani Ormiston, who will not only perform the concert but also gift the city with a performance of her own holiday compositions.

The program includes performances by numerous choirs and vocal groups representing various countries:

Ave Maria Choir (Poland)

Melody Makers Singing Group (United Kingdom)

musical groups "Acércate a Rumanía," including "Chindia," and children from the Romanian Language and Culture Course (Romania)

Voces del Norte and Nordic Choir (Sweden and Norway)

Uanima Choir (Ukraine)

Blanca y Verde Choir (Casa de Andalucía Rafael Alberti, Spain)

As in previous years, traditional mulled wine will be offered to those in attendance by the charity organization Nueva Fraternidad, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere for gatherings and socializing.

The Plaza de la Constitución is expected to be overcrowded once again—hundreds of Torrevieja residents and visitors will gather, many dressed in festive Santa Claus costumes, to sing favorite Christmas tunes, hear the music of their home countries, and share the joy of the holiday.

The event not only reflects the multicultural spirit of Torrevieja but also serves as a shining example of how culture, music, and festive spirit unite people of different generations and ethnicities in a single festive atmosphere.
