Spain will switch to daylight saving time on the night of March 28–29, 2026. At 2:00 AM, clocks will move forward to 3:00 AM.

That day will have only 23 hours.

How it works

There are two changes each year:

  • spring: clocks go forward

  • autumn: clocks go back

Next change: October 25.

Why it exists

The goal is to adapt schedules to daylight and save energy.

Savings are estimated at around 5%, though debated.

Health effects

Even a one-hour shift impacts the body:

  • sleep disruption

  • fatigue

  • lower concentration

Daily life impact

In the following days:

  • productivity drops

  • stress increases

Economic impact

Pros:

  • more daylight

  • increased activity

Cons:

  • reduced performance

  • higher error rates

A bit of humor

A popular saying:

“Humans can’t control time — but twice a year they pretend they can.”

And another one:

“The clock changes. Your body doesn’t.”

Conclusion

A simple one-hour change can have noticeable effects on health and daily routines.
