An educational project entitled “Recreational Science from School to Home” has been launched in Torrevieja, bringing science closer to schoolchildren and their families through hands-on experiments and interactive activities. The initiative is promoted by UNED Torrevieja, in collaboration with local schools and scientific institutions.
The program aims to spark interest in science by encouraging practical experimentation, allowing students to continue at home the activities started in the classroom. In this way, science moves beyond theory and becomes part of everyday family life.
The project is inspired by Michael Faraday and Augustin-Jean Fresnel, two key figures in the history of physics, whose work helps explain concepts related to electromagnetism and optics in a simple and engaging way. Participants take part in live demonstrations and receive educational kits to repeat the experiments both at school and at home.
Having already been implemented in other municipalities, the initiative now reaches Torrevieja with the participation of primary and secondary school students. Organisers emphasise that the program encourages curiosity, critical thinking and an early interest in scientific disciplines.
