Parents accuse Torrevieja school of delaying notice about missing children

In Torrevieja a dispute has emerged after parents claimed that a local school waited almost two weeks before informing them about their children’s absence from class.

The children have reportedly been missing for several months after being taken by their mother.


What the law says

Education in Spain is mandatory from ages 6 to 16.

Unexplained absence is considered school absenteeism and schools must follow specific protocols.

If one parent takes a child without the consent of the other, it may constitute parental child abduction.
