Officers from the Torrevieja Local Police have seized 11 personal mobility vehicles (VMP) during a traffic control operation carried out on Antonio Machado Street.

According to information released by municipal emergency services, the officers discovered that the vehicles were being used without the mandatory insurance required under current regulations.

As a result of the inspection, the electric scooters were immobilized and transferred to the municipal impound lot.

Local police reminded residents that any personal mobility vehicle circulating without mandatory insurance will be immobilized and confiscated.

Authorities also stressed that electric scooter users must register their vehicles in the official registry of Spain’s traffic authority, the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT).

The Department of Local Police has called on users to act responsibly and comply with regulations in order to ensure safe mobility within the city.

The use of electric scooters has grown significantly in Torrevieja in recent years, prompting authorities to increase controls to ensure that users comply with traffic regulations.

Officials emphasize that the purpose of these checks is to improve road safety for scooter users, pedestrians and drivers alike.
