Fire in residential building in Orihuela: two injured, woman airlifted to Valencia

Orihuela (Vega Baja del Segura). A fire broke out on Thursday in a residential building located on San Juan Street in Orihuela, leaving two people injured: a 39-year-old woman and a minor, according to the CICU.
The 39-year-old woman suffered injuries related to fire and/or smoke inhalation and was therefore airlifted by medical helicopter to La Fe Hospital in Valencia for specialized treatment.
The minor was transported to Hospital Vega Baja by a SAMU ambulance. Her condition is reported as stable, with no immediate life-threatening risk.
Emergency response
The incident prompted a large emergency deployment, including:
National Police, securing access to the building;
Local Police;
Firefighters;
three medical units (SAMU, basic life support, and a standard ambulance).
Preliminary findings
Initial reports indicate that the fire originated inside the building. No visible flames or smoke were observed from the exterior.
All windows and balconies were open, suggesting post-incident ventilation. No visible damage to the building’s façade was detected. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
