III Mundialito de Fútbol “Ciudad de Torrevieja”: the city once again hosts an international tournament

ree

In early December, Torrevieja will host the III "Mundialito"—a 7s football tournament that brings together local and international teams and promotes the idea of "integration through sport." The official announcement and program are awaiting release.

The first "Mundialito" took place from December 9-11. The tournament featured national teams of migrants and mixed teams (Spain, Cape Verde, Romania, Paraguay, Colombia, and others). The second "Mundialito" was held from March 16-17, 2024, in the Torrevieja Municipal Sports Zone under the motto "Integration and Travel to the World." Teams from 10 countries participated, and the tournament concluded with a prize presentation by city hall representatives.

What is known about the III edition: the organizers are repeating the 7s football format, with competition structured through a group stage and finals; The event features folklore and cultural performances from national communities, making it a family-friendly celebration in the stadiums and fan zones.

Previous competitions have been noted for their high discipline and fair-play spirit, the massive participation of migrant communities, and the active support of the municipality. Prize presentation ceremonies were presided over by Mayor Eduardo Dolon and members of the city council.

For the exact dates and lineup of participants for the III Mundialito, please visit the organizers' websites and stay tuned for updates.

As a reminder, 7-a-side football is a team of 7 players, more dynamic and compact than classic 11-a-side football on a larger field: fewer players, a smaller field, and a faster pace—ideal for friendly and international tournaments and integration.
