Installation of CCTV systems in the region of Orihuela Costa

Orihuela Town Hall is planning a project to install a CCTV system on the coast and in the surrounding area.

The initial phase focuses on 30 localities, mainly distributed by districts and along the coast, in areas where local police technical reports have revealed a higher level of crime, disorder or unruly behaviour, and where there is currently no surveillance system equivalent to that of the city centre.

The areas included in this initiative are La Aparecida, Arneva, Raiguero de Bonanza, Camino de Beniel, Camino Viejo de Callosa, La Campaneta, Correntías Altas, Correntías Medias, Molins, La Murada, Parroquia de La Matanza, San Bartolomé, Torremendo and various localities of Orihuela Costa.

Among the main new features of this system is the inclusion of number plate and surrounding, which will allow local police officers to check the traceability of a vehicle involved in an offence or crime and to check which vehicles were in a particular place at a particular time. 

All this happens in real time and responds to community demand for improved security. 

This system not only speeds up the investigation of crimes, but also increases deterrence.
