The spirit of Christmas is already in the air on Torrevieja's waterfront, as workers are installing the city's main Christmas tree. Against the backdrop of the azure sea and slender palm trees, the metal frame of the future festive tree rises, soon to sparkle with thousands of lights.
Every year, Torrevieja transforms into a veritable city of light: illuminated arches, garlands, and decorations appear on the streets, and residents eagerly await the ceremonial switching on of the illuminations, which traditionally takes place in early December.
One of the most beloved traditions here remains the Christmas "belen"—a reenactment of the birth of Christ, which residents set up at City Hall and in the central squares. During the holidays, the Paseo Marítimo is filled with music, concerts, and markets where you can sample Christmas sweets—turrón and polvorones.
With each passing day, the atmosphere in Torrevieja becomes increasingly festive—the sea reflects the sun, the palm trees sway in the breeze, and the waterfront prepares to welcome the magic of Christmas.
