Torrevieja — Carnival and cultural eventsCarnaval 2026 has officially begun in Torrevieja. The opening took place on January 30 with the traditional Pregón and the premiere of the documentary “Carnaval 2025” at the Municipal Theatre. Torrevieja — new urban parkThe City Council has presented the project for the new Alto de la Casilla urban park, covering more than 30,000 m². It will be located in Sector 25, between Avenida Asociación Víctimas del Terrorismo, the N-332 road, and César Mateo Cid and Cecilio Gallego Alaminos streets.The project includes leisure and picnic areas, children’s playgrounds, a viewpoint, a café, around 90 parking spaces, and bicycle parking. The investment is estimated at approximately €11.9 million, with a construction period of around 8 months.


Torrevieja — strong winds: 85 incidentsDuring an orange weather alert for strong winds, 85 incidents were handled in Torrevieja within a few hours. Most were related to fallen trees and branches, damage to urban infrastructure and minor traffic accidents.No injuries or fatalities were reported. Municipal emergency services operated at full capacity.


Torrevieja — international tourism campaignGrupo Antón presented the international campaign “Torrevieja is a way of life” at FITUR 2026, targeting northern European markets and highlighting lifestyle, climate and long-stay experiences in the city.


Torrevieja — social eventA diploma ceremony for a 40-hour Spanish language course for foreign students from Europe, Africa and Asia was held at the Cultural Centre. Attendees included Mayor Eduardo Dolón, representatives of social services, the ATIS association and the PANGEA programme coordinator.


Torrevieja — sailing: Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja 2026The 18th Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja 2026 is taking place in Torrevieja, organised by the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja. The regatta runs from January 29 to February 1 and brings together 419 young sailors from 28 countries.On the first day, January 30, weather conditions limited activity to just one race. The start was delayed, and the wind only settled in after 3:00 p.m., allowing the race to be completed. Group winners included Izan Rogel (RCN Torrevieja), Nicolás Bastard, Charles Ganivet (France) and Metehan Asar (Turkey).


Orihuela — medieval market and weatherThe XXVI Medieval Market continues in Orihuela after opening on January 30. Authorities warned of possible programme adjustments on January 31 due to a forecast orange wind alert.


Orihuela — tourism networkTurisme Comunitat Valenciana and Orihuela City Council signed an agreement to develop the Red Tourist Info network, aiming to improve coordination and service quality at Tourist Info Orihuela, Orihuela Playa and Estación Intermodal offices.


Vega Baja — “Sendero del Mediterráneo” awardThe GR-92 “Sendero del Mediterráneo” trail, which runs through Vega Baja, has been named Best Homologated Trail 2025 in the Valencian Community. The award will be collected at the FEMECV ceremony by Convega president Carlos Pastor.


Vega Baja — Tardeada OrihuelaThe Tardeada Orihuela event has announced its second edition on September 18–19, 2026. The format combines daytime music performances, gastronomy, family areas and outdoor cultural activities. The first edition attracted around 14,000 visitors.
