Man detained in Orihuela over violent home invasion: one victim hospitalised

On the evening of 2 February 2026, police officers arrested a 31-year-old man suspected of involvement in a violent crime committed earlier in the Vega Baja del Segura region.

According to official sources, the arrest is linked to an investigation into several serious offences, including attempted homicide, home invasion, grievous bodily harm, illegal possession of weapons and membership of a criminal group.

Two injured individuals were found at the scene. At least one of them suffered serious injuries and was urgently taken to hospital, where his condition was reported as critical at the time of admission.

The operation was carried out by the National Police with the support of local police units. Several items considered relevant to the investigation were seized during the operation, although further details have not been disclosed.

The investigation remains ongoing. Forensic examinations and investigative procedures are under way, and the possible involvement of additional suspects is being examined. A judge will decide on precautionary measures once the investigative phase is completed.
