New “La Plasa” Market in Torrevieja: Nearly €9 Million Investment and Up to 30 Stalls

Details of the new La Plasa market project in Torrevieja: 2,080 m², nearly €9 million budget, concession process and up to 30 commercial units.

The new “La Plasa” market project represents one of the most significant urban investments in central Torrevieja in recent years.

The approved basic and execution project establishes a total execution budget of approximately €8.98 million (VAT included). In September 2025, the Local Government Board awarded the construction contract to COBRA Instalaciones y Servicios S.A.U. for €8,251,352 including VAT.

The future market will occupy 2,080.13 m²: 1,326.11 m² on the ground floor and 754.02 m² on the mezzanine level. The concept includes up to 30 stalls, combining traditional fresh food trade with a modern gastronomic format.

In February 2026, the Torrevieja City Council launched the public concession process for the management of the market. Bidders have 20 calendar days after publication in the Provincial Official Gazette. The future operator must commit to a minimum investment (reported above €730,000) and implement the commercial model.

According to municipal statements, the goal is to transform “La Plasa” into the commercial heart of the city centre, integrating the building into the pedestrian environment and revitalising the surrounding urban space.
