Smell of smoke in Torrevieja

From early hours of this Tuesday, July 8, 2025, a strong smell of smokeis perceived in the town of Torrevieja.

According to the Fire Department of the Diputación de Alicante, this smoke does not come from any fire in our area, but is being carried by the wind from the large forest fires active in the region of Baix Ebre (Tarragona).

The fire has already burnt more than 1,500 hectares of forest mass, and the smoke is being carried southwards by the prevailing winds, crossing the Valencian Community in the direction of Murcia.

There is no risk to the population in our area, but it is important to follow some recommendations:

• Keep doors and windows closed while smelling smoke.

• If you are a sensitive person (respiratory, elderly or children), limit outdoor activity.
