Spanish National Police arrest woman in Orihuela (Alicante) under European Arrest Warrant



On 7 February 2026, officers of the Spanish National Police (Policía Nacional) arrested a 44-year-old woman in Orihuela, Alicante province, in the Vega Baja del Segura region. The arrest was carried out under a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued by judicial authorities in Belgium.

According to official information, the woman is wanted in connection with alleged offences including fraudulent insolvency, property damage and assault, reportedly committed between 2020 and 2024.

Her location in Spain was identified through international police cooperation mechanisms between Belgian authorities and the Spanish National Police. After confirming her presence in the municipality of Orihuela, officers proceeded with the arrest.

She was informed of her rights and the grounds for detention. The case has been transferred to the competent court to initiate surrender proceedings to Belgium under the applicable European Union legal framework.
