Registration for the 33rd annual paella competition, held as part of the Patron Saint's Day celebrations, opens on Monday, November 17th.
This year, if the participant is a minor, their parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the attached form authorizing participation.
Participants can register until November 26th. Places in Parque Antonio Soria will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis after applications are received through the Town Hall's online portal or at the General Registry (PROP department).
Torrevieja Town Hall, as part of the 2025 Patron Saint's Day celebrations, announces the 33rd annual paella competition and the 6th annual T-shirt competition, which will take place on Saturday, December 6th, in the market area of Parque Antonio Soria. All participants must adhere to the requirements set forth in the following rules:
The competition is open to all registered residents of the municipality. A maximum of 80 groups and a maximum of one paella per group may participate in the competition, according to the registration procedure.
Registration and subsequent allocation of places in the Antonio Soria Park will be carried out strictly in the order in which applications are submitted through the Torrevieja City Hall e-office or at the Torrevieja City Hall Registration Office (PROP) from Monday, November 17 to 26, 2025. Participants must provide the necessary information, such as the name of the group representative, group or club details, address, contact telephone number, etc. To do this, they must complete the application form, which will be available on the e-office website and at the PROP office. This year, if the participant is a minor, their parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the attached form to authorize participation.
All ingredients for the paella participating in the competition will be provided by the Festivals Department (maximum 1 kg of rice per participant). Participants must bring their own containers, cooking utensils, and paella pans. A properly certified paella pan, as well as a certificate of the sealed packaging and expiration date, are required.
Participants must arrive at the market site by 7:00 AM.
The competition will begin at 1:00 PM, and the judging will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Paellas will be presented to the jury for tasting in the order they were prepared and according to the schedule established by these rules. Paellas arriving after this time will not be accepted.
The jury will be appointed by the organizers.
Six prizes will be awarded.
The following aspects will be evaluated on a scale of 1 to 4: appearance, taste, rice texture, and degree of doneness. To avoid disruption to the musical performances scheduled by the Festivals Department for the day and to maintain a pleasant atmosphere, personal sound equipment is prohibited on the site.
