On Friday 30 May, the city of Orihuela inaugurated the unique travelling exhibition "El Prado en las Calles" in the Paseo de los Andenes in Orihuela.

It presents 50 life-size reproductions of great masters from the Museo Nacional del Prado..

The exhibition "The Prado in the Streets" aims to bring the collections of the Museo Nacional del Prado closer to the public through reproductions of masterpieces from the Spanish, Italian and Flemish schools..

Orihuela is the eighth city in the Valencian Community to visit this open-air exhibition, organised by the Museo Nacional del Prado and the Fundación Iberdrola España to celebrate its bicentenary, in collaboration with the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment. The exhibition has previously been shown in Benidorm, Ontinyent, Castellón de la Plana, Sagunto, Alicante, Vinaròs and Valencia..

The images are accompanied by explanatory captions, QR codes and information panels that contextualise the works and allow visitors to learn about the different schools represented in the museum's permanent collection..

Through these works, visitors can immerse themselves in the history of Spain, Europe and Western art, focusing on names such as Goya, Velázquez, El Greco, Rubens, Dürer, Rembrandt, Bosch, Titian and Caravaggio, among others..

The project "El Prado in the streets" started in 2020 in Castilla-La Mancha and since then it has travelled through Castilla y León, Extremadura and Andalusia, obtaining excellent results in all its stages..

The exhibition "The Prado in the streets" in the city of Orihuela will remain open until 29 June 2025. Don't miss the opportunity to see 50 reproductions of masterpieces from the Museo Nacional del Prado in the streets of the city!
