The project to install sunshades and sunbeds on Torrevieja beach is approved.

At the end of June, the Torrevieja Town Hall held an extraordinary session in which it approved the concession for the installation of beach equipment (sunbeds, sunshades and recreational structures) for the period 2025-2028..

This decision was taken in response to previous complaints from residents and tourists that since the start of the summer season the beaches lacked basic services such as sunbeds and umbrellas.

The new concession foresees that the services will be provided by private operators - the awarded companies Actividades Torrevieja SL and Baliser Equipamientos de Playas SL - and the City Council expects to obtain significant revenues from the contract, estimated at more than 1.2 million euros.

The project includes the installation of different types of sunshades and sunbeds on several beaches in Torrevieja. Currently, authorisations have been granted for the beaches of La Mata, Los Locos, Playa del Cura and Los Náufragos.

On the largest beach, La Mata, eight areas will be set up for the installation: one of 100 m², four of 150 m² and three of 200 m². In addition, two stations for non-motorised boats and water bikes will be opened in summer, as well as one for motorised boats.

On Los Locos beach, a 200 m² area has been authorised for sunshades and sunbeds, although only 50 m² will be used between 15 March and 31 May.

On the Cura beach, umbrellas will be installed in an area of 70 m². Water recreation activities with pedal boats will also be available.

Finally, at Los Náufragos beach, the area for sunbeds and parasols will be 50 m² in spring and October, and 200 m² during the summer. This beach will also have a water bike rental point and a ticket office for the water park.

Three periods have been established for the installation of umbrellas and sunbeds:

1st period - from 15 March to 31 May,

2nd period - high season from 1st June to 30th September,

3rd period - 1st to 31st October.

As for the prices of sun loungers and parasols for users, official rates have not yet been published, although it is estimated that they will be between 5 and 8 euros per sun lounger per day.
