The Torrevieja City Council is finalising preparations to welcome Their Majesties the Three Wise Men of the East, who will arrive in the city next Monday, January 5, on a day especially dedicated to children and families.
According to the Councillor for Festivals, Rosario Martínez, events will take place both in Torrevieja and La Mata, maintaining the traditional format of arrival by sea followed by a parade through the main streets.
The Royal Procession is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., when the boats will arrive at the outer area of the Royal Torrevieja Yacht Club, where the Three Wise Men will be welcomed by the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, and the Councillor for Festivals. From there, the parade will begin at the Paseo Vista Alegre, near the Casino of Torrevieja.
The parade will feature around 400 participants and four floats: three dedicated to the Three Wise Men —Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar— and a fourth representing the Star of Bethlehem, accompanied by a ballet of illuminated stars. The route will pass through Clemente Gosálvez Street, Ramón Gallud Street, Moriones Street and Caballero de Rodas Street, ending at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, where the traditional adoration of the Infant Jesus will take place, followed by a speech from King Melchior.
The parade will also include various performances, with the participation of the Security Forces, a postal unit to collect last-minute letters, King Herod accompanied by his Roman guard, a group of Hebrews with donkeys, and three marching bands.
As in previous years, a special area for people with reduced mobility will be set up on Ramón Gallud Street, opposite number 77, near the corner with María Parodi Street.
In La Mata, the Three Kings Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m., starting from Avenida de los Europeos and continuing along Calle Mayor to the surroundings of the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Rosary. Two floats will take part in this parade.
In addition, the Royal pages and messengers will collect children’s letters on January 3 and 4 at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and on January 4 in La Mata, at Plaza Encarnación Puchol, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Department of Festivals has announced that it is working on preventive measures in case of adverse weather conditions, in order to ensure the safe celebration of all events.
