On November 15, the Torrevieja Municipal Theatre hosted the coronation ceremony of the 2025-2026 Queen of Salt, one of the city's key annual cultural events. Following a jury meeting, Daniela Dayana Gómez received the title and became the municipality's new official representative for the coming year. Miriam Córdova and Sara Toribio were appointed as her accompanying Ladies of Salt.
The ceremony began at the theatre entrance: a pianist and violinist duo performed the traditional serenade to the outgoing Queen of Salt, also welcoming the city's new representatives. Before the main performance, the audience enjoyed a performance by the Paya's dance school, based on a combination of light and shadow. The 2024/2025 Queen of Salt, Nuria Martí, also presented her final performance and later delivered her farewell speech. Representatives of Torrevieja's social and cultural organizations attended the event, including the Carnival Queens, the Junior and Senior Queens of the Molinos del Calvario Bonfire, the Children's Queen, and the Queen of Torrelamata. A special highlight was the participation of the Bellesa del Foc de Alicante, who was presented with a traditional salt boat by Torrevieja Mayor Eduardo Dolon. In return, the Alicante Bonfire Federation awarded the mayor its highest award.
The jury, consisting of José Miguel Toro, Ana María Torres, Mercedes Ortuño, Javier García, Jesús Sánchez Seva, Ainara Antelo, and members of the former Salt Council, announced the Ladies of the Salt one by one, after which Daniela Gómez received the crown, scepter, and sash from the mayor. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the Torrevieja anthem, marking the beginning of the festive cycle in honor of the Immaculate Conception, which will last until December 9.
