Torrevieja continues to steadily strengthen its status as one of the Costa Blanca's sporting hubs. The municipality has officially confirmed the allocation of subsidies for sporting events and the development of sporting activities in 2025, supporting the city's clubs, associations, and federations.
As Diana Box Alonso, the city's sports councilor, stated, the new subsidy program is not a one-time measure, but rather part of a long-term strategy to develop sport and promote a healthy lifestyle among residents and visitors.
Sport for all, all year round
Thanks to this support, Torrevieja will host dozens of competitions, tournaments, and mass sporting events throughout the year, open to people of all ages. This includes not only professional sports, but also amateur, family, and charitable initiatives.
According to city officials, sporting activity directly impacts quality of life, social cohesion, and the city's attractiveness as a tourist destination.
Who received support
Recipients of the subsidies include Torrevieja's leading sports organizations and national federations. Among them:
• Real Club Náutico Torrevieja — regional and international regattas
• Athletics, tennis, padel, and gymnastics clubs — city and autonomous tournaments
• Adaptive Sports Federations — championships and open competitions for people with disabilities
• Social Associations — charity runs and marches
• Water Sports, Diving, and Lifesaving Clubs — competitions and environmental initiatives
The calendar includes half marathons, international cups, Spanish championships, regattas, mass runs, bowling, volleyball, swimming, sailing tournaments, and even seabed cleanups. Economy, Health, and City Image
The municipality emphasizes that the benefits of sports subsidies extend far beyond sport:
• 🟢 Increased physical activity among children, adolescents, and adults
• 🟢 Promotion of a healthy lifestyle
• 🟢 Increased tourism and competition participation, supporting hotels, restaurants, and retail
• 🟢 Increased visibility of Torrevieja at the regional, national, and international levels
• 🟢 Support for local clubs and volunteer communities
Torrevieja – a city of sport on the Costa Blanca
The continuation of the subsidy program in 2025 confirms Torrevieja's ambition to become a sustainable Mediterranean sports hub, open to both professionals and amateurs.
The city is betting on sport—and by all accounts, this bet continues to pay off.
