Residents and visitors of Torrevieja are facing a number of changes related to car parking in the city centre. Municipal services remind drivers of the current rules while also offering new parking options — including a large parking facility near the port.(Parking in Torrevieja: https://www.torreviejactual.com/gestion-de-la-ciudad-3)
Regulated parking on Ramón Gallud
In the central area of Torrevieja, on Ramón Gallud Street, regulated parking with a time limit is in place: vehicles may remain parked for a maximum of 2 hours in the controlled zone. Parking is monitored by automatic number plate recognition systems operated by the Spanish municipal police, and violations outside permitted hours or overstaying the time limit may result in fines.
This measure aims to ensure traffic flow and parking availability during peak hours, especially in central shopping and tourist areas.
Blue Zone: how it works
For visitors and drivers planning to park in the city centre, general rules apply for paid parking areas, commonly known as the “Blue Zone” (Zona Azul). In these areas, parking must be paid for via a parking meter or mobile application, and valid confirmation must be displayed or registered digitally.
In most Spanish cities, including Torrevieja, the Blue Zone typically limits parking time to up to 2 hours. Exceeding the paid time without valid authorization may result in a fine.
The Blue Zone is the most widespread form of paid parking, helping to ensure vehicle turnover and parking availability near commercial and public facilities in the city centre.
New large parking facility at the Port of Torrevieja
One of the most significant updates for drivers is the spacious parking facility at the Port of Torrevieja (Paseo del Mar – Puerto Torrevieja Car Park). This parking area offers more than 500 parking spaces, operates 24 hours a day, and is equipped with video surveillance, making it suitable for both short-term and long-term parking in the city centre.Operator: Telpark
The parking area is located next to the promenade, market zone and port infrastructure, allowing easy access to the seafront, cafés and shops without the need to search for parking on narrow streets.
Paid parking options and discounts
In addition to standard parking zones, in 2025 Torrevieja introduced initiatives to encourage the use of underground car parks. The municipality and the operator Telpark agreed on a temporary promotion allowing parking in central Paseo del Mar car parks for €0.99 until 30 September 2025, when purchasing special multi-passes via the mobile application.
This initiative is intended to improve access to the city centre and support local businesses during periods of high tourist activity.
