Torrevieja will be the center of global attention from November 3 to 8, 2025, when it hosts the 17th Campeonato del Mundo de Clubes de Pesca en Embarcación Fondeada – the World Club Sport Fishing Championship – featuring 18 clubs from five countries: Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Portugal.
The competition will be organized by Club Náutico Marina Internacional with the support of the City Hall's Sports Department and the Valencian Community's Pesca Federation. The program includes initial training sessions, followed by three competition rounds: November 4, 5, and 6; the awards ceremony is scheduled for the evening of November 7.
"We want Torrevieja to become the starting point for a new cycle of international events," said Antonio Vidal, City Hall's Fishing Councilor. The participation of international teams confirms the significant growth of fishing tourism and enhances the city's image as a sports hub.
Up to 90 participants and accompanying teams are expected to arrive in the city over the course of the week, providing an additional economic boost to the hotel and restaurant industries. Fishing competitions of this scale will help strengthen Torrevieja's position on the Mediterranean sports tourism map.
