Torrevieja continues its Christmas season, and one of the most anticipated events will be the Gran Desfile de Papá Noel (Grand Parade of Father Noel), which will take place on December 23 at 6:30 PM in the city center.
The parade is part of the official municipal Christmas program and is primarily aimed at families with children. The evening procession will wind through the central streets of Torrevieja and attract thousands of spectators, creating a festive atmosphere on the eve of Christmas and New Year.
According to the municipality, the parade will feature Father Noel, elves, fairytale characters, animated floats, and musical groups. The event encourages active interaction with children: greetings, smiles, festive music, and the opportunity to hand over letters containing Christmas wishes.
In recent years, the Father Noel parade has become an established city tradition, complementing the more classic Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos (Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos), which takes place in January. The introduction of this parade has enhanced the festive atmosphere in the run-up to the New Year and enlivened the city center during the school holidays.
In previous years, municipal officials noted that the event was conceived as a small gathering, but quickly evolved into a massive family celebration. Residents and visitors to Torrevieja have repeatedly emphasized that this parade symbolically marks the beginning of the Christmas holidays for many children.
Memorable moments from past years include instances when the procession was briefly halted due to the influx of spectators, and when Papa Noel lingered in the central square longer than planned, accepting letters directly from the crowd. These spontaneous episodes have become part of the city's festive history.
Municipal services traditionally accompany the event with enhanced traffic management and public order measures to ensure a comfortable and safe parade for all participants. The Grand Parade of Papa Noel is not only a vibrant spectacle but also an important element of city life, annually uniting residents and visitors of Torrevieja, creating a sense of shared celebration and anticipation of Christmas.
Papa Noel Parade Route. According to the official municipal announcement of the Christmas program, the route of the Grand Parade of Papa Noel has been confirmed for 2025 and will follow the following pattern:
• Start: Calle Ramón Gallud
• Continue: through the city center
• Finish: Plaza de la Constitución
This is the route the parade has taken in previous years, and it has been officially retained in the current season's program. During the parade, temporary traffic restrictions and the presence of municipal services will be in place on the aforementioned streets.
Weather on the evening of the parade: what to wear. On the evening of December 23rd, during the parade (starting at 6:30 PM), Torrevieja will experience typical December coastal weather:
• Air temperature: 12–15°C;
• No precipitation expected, or minimal chance of precipitation;
• Wind: light to moderate, without strong gusts;
• Humidity: moderate, without a damp feeling.
Practical advice for spectators: It may feel warm during the day, but it will be cooler in the evening, especially if you stand in one place for a long time. A light jacket, a warm sweater, and, if desired, a scarf will help you stay comfortable throughout the parade.
